Watch the National Museum come to life with 'adventure' at the Night Lights showcase

Set up to feel a different kind of nightlife this weekend? The popular Singapore Night Festival kicks off its 12th edition on Fri (Aug 23) with the Night Lights showcase all over the Bras Basah.Bugis district.

For the festival's starting time weekend, visitors will be treated to 17 calorie-free artworks of installations and projections. All works will exist shown from seven.30pm to midnight all the way until Aug 31.

And as a nod to the Singapore Bicentennial celebrations, several works in the line-upwards have a Southeast Asian connexion, casting a spotlight on sociology and traditions.

Internationally-renowned French group Spectaculaires is transforming the National Museum of Singapore with their work titled Keep Dreaming. The iconic landmark volition come to life equally the calorie-free display tells the tale of three mysterious characters who awaken from slumber to get on an chance.

"The story begins with a school group which is visiting the museum, and information technology is a little story which is able to make people dream with us," said Benoit Quero, founder of Spectaculaires.

Spectaculaires is known for its projections and highlights and it has developed artworks involving graphics, sound, calorie-free and scenography that have been seen across Europe.

Over at the National Blueprint Centre, y'all'll see a slice by design visitor Asylum, which is jubilant its 20th ceremony with an installation work titled Work-In-Progress, featuring a scaffold structure property animated light formations.

"If you lot await closely, you lot will come across things like Tetris blocks forming into dinosaurs, y'all volition run across snakes floating, you volition meet rain falling from the sky, so it's really up to your imagination – what triggers off and what you tin spot," teased Chris Lee, founder of Asylum.

Meanwhile, Symbiote by LiteWerkz will be found at the walkway along Stamford Road. The piece by the blueprint collective of students, artists and engineers is said to testify the symbiotic human relationship between dissimilar communities in Singapore.

Over at CHIJMES is another Singapore-inspired piece, Waves Of Fourth dimension by Chips And Toon, which features a facade projection reimagining the journey of a prince who crossed the seas to visit the state.

Apart from the Nighttime Lights showcase, this twelvemonth's Singapore Dark Festival line-upwardly will likewise include xl performances and roving acts, as well equally ii Festival Village fix-ups at Dhoby Ghaut Greenish and Armenian Street Park.
